Christianity reached the parish of Ballinasloe as early as the time of Saint Patrick when Saint Grellan was consecrated by him and established his foundation in Kilclooney. Saint Raoilin established his church in Creagh. Kilclooney and Creagh became parishes after the Synod of Kells in 1152. The foundation stone of the present Saint Michael's church was laid in 1852 and Our Lady of Lourdes church was dedicated on August 18, 1931

PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS:

Father,

Send into the fields the workers

who will achieve the harvest of tomorrow

and prove their love

in determined hours

not counting moments, years,

unless to note the joy of service

For others not our own but yours.

Grant this generation of opportunity

the vision of those tomorrows that

depend on the response this

generation makes today.

Help us to hear your Son.

He says to our generation too:

Come follow me. Amen
