The parish of Clontuskert is the oldest in the historic diocese of Clonfert. We are told that "South of and not far from the boundary of Kilclooney parish is the ruin of a monastery, the Augustinian Priory of Clontuskert. It was reputedly founded in the eighth century by Betan of Clontuskert, whose death is recorded in the Annals at AD 805AD."

The present church was built about the time of the great famine, and is a beautiful testament to the faith of the people of Clontuskert in difficult times.

Next Saturday is the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes and World Day of Prayer for the sick. Mass will be at 11a.m. and the Sacrament of the sick will be given to anyone who would like to receive it. If old, and RTE certainly will describe anyone over 65 as old, or any form of cold or flu you should feel free to come to receive the Sacrament of the Sick.

The Annual Collection for the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will be held on Sunday next. Baskets will be passed around after Communion and I appeal to you all to please give as much as you can.

Congratulations to Caroline & Micheál Lynch on the baptism of their baby daughter Kathryn Geraldine and to Anne Marie Hodgins & Seamus McDonagh on the baptism of their baby daughter Aisling Sofia.

Congratulations to Mandy Lloyd and Joe Rocke who were married here on Friday. I hope that they will both be very happy.
