There are two churches in the Parish of Tynagh and Killeen. Saint Laurence's Church, Tynagh and The Sacred Heart Church, Killeen, formally known as St Corban's Catholic Church, Killeen South, Ballyhrule, Ballinasloe. Our Lady of Kilcorban and Our Lady of Tynagh span 800 years of Christian devotion. Our Lady of Kilcorban is an old wood carving originating west of the Shannon about 1200 AD. In the 15th century it had its own chapel in the Dominican Priory, Kilcorban. Our Lady of Kilcorban is the oldest known wooden statue of its kind in Ireland, currently in the Clonfert Museum in Loughrea. Tynagh was famous for its lead and zinc mine which was a hive of activity in the 1970s but closed in 1980. Mass Times. Killeen Church - Saturday evening at 8pm. Tynagh Church - Sunday morning at 11am. Weekday Mass Times. Monday - Tynagh 9.30am. Tuesday - Killeen 9.30am. Wednesday - Tynagh 8pm. Thursday - Killeen 9.30am. Friday - Tynagh 9.30am. (First Friday Tynagh at 8pm). Baptisms: Contact Fr Seamus Bohan, to book your child's Baptism. A Pre Baptismal Programme must be completed before the Baptismal Ceremony. The programme takes place in the Day Care Centre, Portumna on the Second Tuesday of each month from 8.30 to 9.30pm. To book a date contact Fr Seamus. Marriages: Contact Fr Seamus Bohan, to book your Church Wedding. Three months notice must be given to the Church. Three months notice must also be given to the State Registrar. A Pre Marriage Course with accord must also be booked. Each person getting married will need a current Baptismal Certificate,, Confirmation Certificate, Letter of Freedom and a Pre Nuptial Enquiry Form completed by your priest.
